This is it -- the first official post of my book review blog!
I have been considering this idea for several months now (okay, let's "be real," really since I was spending more time at home and reading more during the COVID19 lock-downs). I should have gone ahead with it then.. for whatever reason, I put it off until now. So I'm starting off with the first review I ever wrote as part of a launch team. I wrote this in August-September 2017, to help launch Kristi Ann Hunter's book, An Inconvenient Beauty. I had a great experience on that launch team, and have participated on several others since then. My goal is to post those past reviews in the next few weeks, and then jump into what I'm currently reading. Without further ado, here is my first book review! An Inconvenient Beauty is a delightful ending to the Hawthorne House Series. Although I am rather sad it's come to an end and I won't be reading any new books about this family, I have thoroughly enjoyed their stories, and plan to reread them in order soon! It is finally Griffith's turn to find a wife and true love; his siblings are happily married and settled, and he has come up with just the plan for a smooth courtship and marriage for himself. Except nothing goes according to his plan, and he learns that matters of the heart are completely out of his control (but not God's). Isabella Breckenridge has made what she thought was the best choice for the well-being of her family. But she made this choice without God's guidance and now must suffer the consequences. Isabella struggles to believe God would forgive her and still take care of her family, but she finally trusts Him and comes out with a happily-ever-after. It is hard to believe this series is complete! In this final book, I laughed out loud multiple times while reading, teared up once, and there were several late nights involved too, although part of me wanted to take my time to postpone the ending. I really enjoyed the family dynamics, and reading about both the town and country aspects of life in the Regency era. I have recommended books 1 - 3 to all of my friends, and will be recommending book 4 as well! Here's a link to purchase the book, if you are interested: link.
